CrowdMag is an application that enables users to measure local magnetic fields with their smartphones. The application can be employed during outdoor activities, flights, or individual experiments, and offers the option to share data with NOAA, supporting efforts to enhance understanding of Earth’s magnetic environment.

For outdoor activities such as walking or running, users can document magnetic measurements along their routes and save these as "magtivities." The app also provides data backup capabilities—users can export their data to a computer, ensuring preservation when switching devices or performing resets, allowing seamless continuation of their contributions.

Additional features include a magnetic calculator utilizing the latest World Magnetic Model (WMM2020), providing calculations for declination (magvar), dip angle, and total magnetic field strength. An integrated compass displays both true and magnetic north distinctly. An advanced 3D display feature is available, along with optional audio output, enhancing navigational awareness.
